Angela, the piece you inspired me to compose, "Night Air", has been performed often since you played it so beautifully. It looks like it will be performed again soon, and it made me think of you. Gorgeous website! Best wishes, Alexis

Absolutely wonderful to listen to. Started to teach myself the flute 2 years ago, and I listen to you a lot, praying I can learn something. Just amazing.

Wow!
You are a superb flautist; I'll bet that you could make a Bundy sound "oh so sweet"!! You are "one with your flute".
Your sound is beautiful, full and rich without being too bright.
You have remarkable control of your vibrato... Used sparingly, vibrato is an accent; when over-used or out of control, it is an annoyance!!
When (if) I grow up, I want to play like you (I am 58 years old and I have played both flute and clarinet for over 45 years).

I wrote a review for the CD "Myths & Legends":

MYTHS & LEGENDS
Music of Debussy, Roussel, Deussen

Angela Koregelos’ CD Myths & Legends is a fantastic journey into a sensibility and sound that is uniquely French. Upon hearing Angela perform this repertoire, with her deep understanding of the music, one is not surprised to learn that she studied for years in France with one of the great masters of flute, Alain Marion. It is as if she has taken on the very spirit of the rich musical language of France.

In Debussy’s “Bilitis” there is a sense of refinement and delicacy which creates an almost shimmering beauty. The silvery voice of Leslie Loizelet as narrator matches the flute perfectly. The listener is simply transported by this luxurious Debussian feast of words and music.

Angela’s interpretation and performance of “Jouers de Flûte” by Roussel is flawless. The finesse, good taste and utter loveliness of her flute playing are matched perfectly by the splendid pianist Zoë Smith, who seems to share the same highly developed sensibility for this music.

Angela’s natural, free style of playing and her gorgeous flute tone, combined with such a deep understanding for French music, provide the listener with a superlative musical experience. It is such a treat to be able to hear this exquisite music coming through the speakers in one’s own living room.

I wrote a review for the CD "An American Recital":

AN AMERICAN RECITAL
Works by Copland, Thomson, Hanson, Harrison, Kennan, Muczynski

The opening of Angela Koregelos’ CD An American Recital is a stunning performance of Copland’s flute fanfare, put forth with a gorgeous, rich tone which welcomes the listener into what promises to be a thrilling musical experience. From then on the pleasure just grows.

The Virgil Thomson Sonata for Flute Alone is nothing less than a tour de force, with remarkably fluid and masterful playing. Later in the program, Lou Harrison’s haunting “Air in G Minor for flute” with its eerie cello drone, followed by the dark and mysterious “Night Soliloquoy” by Kent Kennan, take the listener on a journey to darker, more introspective places; only to be drawn out into the light again by Angela’s energetic and passionate performance of Muczynski’s “Sonata for Flute and Piano.” Her mastery of this technically challenging piece is truly impressive. The cadenza in the last movement is nothing less than brilliant.

One can’t help noticing that Angela’s rich, full-bodied tone, not forced or overly “flutistic,” as so many flute performances tend to be, creates a pleasing, natural sound that everyone can love -- one which accessible to the layperson, and not just to other flutists. Thanks to this, and to the rock-solid skill and good taste of all musicians involved here, this entire CD is jaw-droppingly wonderful from beginning to end.

Here's a review I wrote about your CD "Red, White & Blue":

RED, WHITE & BLUE
Works by American and British Composers

The CD Red, White & Blue by Angela Koregelos is a rich, bold, lush, and all-around great musical experience. The program flows perfectly and is thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end. And what a clever idea to begin with the Andante from Gershwin’s “Preludes for Piano” performed as a piano solo by the talented Zoë Smith, and to end with the same piece arranged for flute and piano. They provide the bookends for a perfect concert, played masterfully by the finest of musicians.

After a gentle walk through the lilting melodies of the first two flute pieces, “Serenade” by A. Woodall and “Regrets and Resolutions” by Gary Schocker, Katherine Hoover’s “Kokopeli” reminds the listener that a skilled flutist combined with a powerful composition can visit much more complex emotions.

The siesta movement of Richard Rodney Bennett’s “Summer Music” is somehow bittersweet in its simplicity and sheer loveliness. Samuel Barber’s “Canzone” once again strikes us with the power of a finely crafted melody, played so sensitively by Angela and Zoë. The “Suite Antique” of John Rutter is a series of six movements, each one more alluring and evocative than the next. The movement entitled aria is especially haunting, thanks in no small part to Angela’s beautiful, rich flute tone.

Red, White & Blue takes the listener on a melodic voyage celebrating the beauty of life, music and that wonderful instrument, the flute!
